Hi!

I was wondering wether anyone could recommend any good external soundcards for my MBP? Seeing as how creative isn't at all compatible with Mac I'm pretty stumped. It should preferrably have 5.1 support for my current sound system.

Thanks in advance

MacBook's/MacBook Pro's soundcard has optical out which is capable of deliverying 5.1 surround sound.

As long as your amplifier has optical in, you'll be fine.

They've already asked this question in another thread it seems. In that thread, they specifically are looking for 7.1 surround sound.

Well I'm going by the original post which states:

I only have a 5.1 setup so can't test to see if it outputs 7.1 surround sound. But I can't see why not.

Most DVD's are 5.1 anyway.

Oh, I didn't realise that. So all I need to get is a 3.5mm to optical cable?

Then just a standard optical cable from that to your amp.

off topic somewhat...but does anyone know you can get 5.1 sound in boot camp with a MBP?
