external speakers quiet imac

so i got some logitech LS21 speakers and plug them in to my imac and they work its just very very quiet. how can i make them louder? i have them turned up all the way but they are still super quiet.

Is the volume in OSX turned up too using the buttons in the keyboard?

Either what the guys above said, or get more powerful external speakers. Also, make sure the jack is plugged all the way in the headphone jack...
