Does it make sense to buy an external ssd drive to supplement a lower memory macbook air?

If you do this / have one a recommendation of brand would be appreciated. Thank you.

If you're running out of room on the internal drive, an SSD can help.

You didn't tell us WHAT YEAR your MBair is.
What kind of USB ports does the MBair have?
Are they USBc ports?

If they are USBc ports, I'd suggest:
- an "nvme" blade SSD of your choice
placed into
- a USB3.1 gen2 enclosure of your choice.

Compact and relatively fast.
