So i have a Samsung SSD in a USB C 3.1 enclosure. with Black magic disk test i get 497mbps read speed when plugged into my intel 2019 Macbook pro, but only 330mbps read speed when plugged into my mac mini running latest Big Sur. (both machines are running big sur) and drive is formatted APFS.
I saw lots of youtube video thumbnails saying that M1 has much slower speeds with external drives but i was hoping it was just false clickbait. im kinda sad. any way to fix this?

Yeah it is an issue. I bought a NVME SSD with a 10Gbps enclosure.
I get ~330 Mbps with 5Gbps cable and ~740 with the 10Gbps cable.

Either:
Use a Thunderbolt based enclosure
OR
Use a Thunderbolt Hub which has its own USB controller

Has this issue been resolved yet?
Have a M1 Max now, and the drives I used to us eon my Intel Mac are much slower.
Glyph Atom Pro 2TB TB3 drive was getting around read and writes of 2500+ on my Intel. Same drive on the M1 gets around 1600MB/s.
