Just ordered a 2019 iMac. I currently have a 2015 and have 6 external USB drives hooked up to it plus a USB2 hub with a scanner, wacomtablet, CD drive, UPS,etc.. The drives are all in separate enclosures some are spinning disk some are SSDs, this allowed me to shut down the backup drives when not in use. The 3 SSD are USB 3 and hooked up to the USB ports on the back of the computer, leaving 1 open for other use. The remainder of the USB disk are hooked up to a Thunderbolt 2 dock, the USB 2 hub is hooked up there as well. I am thinking of going with a thunderbolt 3 dock and keeping the same setup. Or will a TB3 to TB2 adapter and my current dock work well. I get very good transfer speeds now but I wondering if the adapter will slow things down. Or is there a third options I should be looking at.
