Guys
I currently have a 2012 Mac Pro that has started to slow down. I am looking at buying a new iMac to use in my second home in Thailand. I' a hobbyist photographer shooting medium format so my image files are big. My question is what would you guys recommend for external storage connected to my new iMac. I use Photoshop as my main program for post processing my pictures................so high speed is what I am looking for here.
Any advice would be much appreciated

Neil

Look for a large SeagateMedia SSD with either wifi and/or USB connectivity.
I use those myself, seen no problems what so ever, even with large files.
I even transfer some RAW files from my phaseone digital back used with my hasselblad 500C.

Well you can try this. It takes both SSD and standard hard drives. I have the single bay unit that is also a USB hub. I have an HGST 7200 rpm 4TB NAS hard drive in it for Time Machine and CCC backups. It connects with USB 3 and it seems pretty fast. It also accepts SSD's if you want to go that route. It is not glamorous, but it gets the job done and is quite cost effective.
