I have an external thunderbolt 2 RAID array that's been working just fine, even through all the Big Sur betas. Upgraded to beta 6 today, and now the RAID array doesn't mount or show up in any capacity that I can see (Disk Utility doesn't see it, etc). I've power cycled the array, rebooted the iMac, reseated the cable on both ends, but to no avail.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any clues on how to get my array to be recognized again?

EDIT: fixed as per my post down below

How do you connect to it? Do you type in a server address? If you do, which protocol are you using?

It's a thunderbolt 2 external enclosure.

Here's the hardware report. Not sure if both Port statuses should be should be connected or not.

I don't have an answer for this. I know the new beta messed up connecting to network shares, so it could be it messed up something for external devices as well. Such is life in the beta world.

Ok, so I found a fix/workaround for my specific case.

Turns out, the kernel extension/driver for the Promise RAID array wasn't loading. Once I manually loaded it, things worked out.

In a terminal window:

sudo kextload -b com.promise.driver.stex

The array was slow as snot when it first mounted .. probably the new beta wanting to index everything on those large HDDs, but it mounts and everything is accessible. Yay.

(More details/context can be found in this post: https://forum.promise.com/thread/promise-utility-window-won-t-open/)
