I have found that the USB DAC I am currently using (NAD M51) is not working properly with software using Core Audio such as Spotify or iTunes. The Bitperfect add on with iTunes is not working either.

Audirvana+ using exclusive mode is still working although only on files with a bitrate of 96 kHz or less and there is something ever so slightly off about the sound. My B&W MM-1 seem to be working properly too.

I now see that these issues along with my mouse not working have me understanding what beta really means. Be forewarned if you are using external audio gear.

Yeah I have just found this issue using my Meridian Explorer DAC. It starts cutting like its buffering.

Shame. All bit rates too.

have you checked Audio MIDI Setup in Apps -> Utilities and tried messing around in there or making sure the settings match 10.10 for you device?

Same here with LH Labs Pulse and iFi Micro iDSD. Sometime it synchs, sometimes it doesn't - most of the time, just static.

Same devices works just fine with Yosemite and with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Preview, so it's definitely an issue with El Capitan.

I guess there was a code regression since the general release still has issues. My HiFiMan EF2A has no audio controls under El Cap.

am using a nuforce udac-3, and no issues (every version of 10.11, including current 10.11.3beta). perhaps contact nuforce?... or try another usb port. what mac?

Their reply is as follows:

As a company, we have recently purchased Nu-Force as a brand, however, the model you have is a legacy unit & is not supported by Optoma. Having studied your problem this does seem consistent with Apple rather that the Udac2 as there may be an issue on the Apple drivers on El Capitan. In view of this we would suggest speaking with Apple.

I've asked them to confirm that the uDac-3 is fully compatible with OS X El Capitan.

Good to know. It's come up on Massdrop recently for around £50 delivered to the UK, so might be worth changing to if it comes up again
