I have a fairly old 2.5" hard drive that I popped into a USB enclosure and I use it for Time Machine backup. I don't have a ton of files, so the space is enough.

From time to time the Mac Mini tells me that the Time Machine drive has been unexpectedly ejected !?! If I unplug the USB cord and plug it back in it works fine.

Is this common?
Is my hard drive being flaky?

I have run the disk utility a number of times and it always tells me the drive is just fine. I think the drive is a Hitachi Travelstar, in case that matters.
