Just noticed on my new iMac there are, in addition to the usual ethernet port,
ethernet adapters that show up as EN2 and EN3. What might these bet?

See how many interfaces you have in the network control panel.

I was going to suggest they were virtual interfaces, but I just added a second ethernet, and it showed up under en0 for me.

The wireless adapter shows up as an ethernet port, I don't know for sure whether bluetooth does as well.

I have the usual ethernet port enabled and operating properly at one of the usual "192" addresses.

The second ethernet port has an address of 10.37.XXX.X
The third ethernet port is similar with a slightly different "10" address.

Bluetooth, Airport and Firewire show up separately in the network panel, but are turned off.

Figured it out!

See the plus sign + at the bottom left of the screen in the screen shot? If you tap it by mistake, it adds an adapter. Click the minus sign - and the extra port goes away. Weird.
