Extra g after 'ing' gerund in messages

I did a google search on this, but only found one Reddit thread from back in 2019. From that, I'm able to surmise that I'm not the only one with this, and I still have this issue years later, so I assume there's been no fix. There was no solution to it at that time though, so I thought I'd ask here.

The issue is on iPhone in Messages, pretty much any word ending in 'ing' will include an additional g. So, "I'm running late" will always become "I'm running g late". After years of this, I'm starting to be annoyed, and I wondered if I'm still not alone, and more importantly, if anyone knows why this happens and how to fix it. It can't just be my typing style.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried to reset the dictionary?

Reset your personal dictionary​

1. Go to Settings
   
   > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
2. Tap Reset, then tap Reset Keyboard Dictionary.
   All custom words and shortcuts are deleted, and the keyboard dictionary returns to its default state.
