I tried searching but I have not found any mention of this issue. If it is already being discussed somewhere else, please point me there.

Since I installed Yosemite I have had a number of replicating icons showing up at the bottom of the Applications view. By that view I mean the window that pops up when you click Applications on the dock. It might not be there by default but it can be made by dragging your Applications folder to the dock. The last icon in my list is multiplying. First it was showing up twice. Now it is up to five occurrences. Any ideas?

While I was typing the above, it occurred to me that since I could create it, perhaps I could delete it and recreate it. Worth a try. I deleted it and then re-added it to the dock and the extra icons went away.

Weird.

We'll see if they start popping up again. Perhaps there was just something left over from my upgrade from Mavericks. Oh well. Either way, it looks better now and hopefully it won't return.

Uh OH. They came back. I am back up to three copies of the last icon in the Applications view.

The same thing has occurred on my Mac Mini.

Is nobody else seeing this behavior on the Macs with Yosemite?

Thanks.

Seems like the extra icons might be tied to installation of updates or new applications. Not sure yet.

I am astonished that I appear to be the only person having this issue but I have it on two machines. How odd.

I've done the filesystem check and permissions checks. They just keep coming back. I can remove them by deleting/re-adding the Applications icon on the Dock but the extra icons eventually return.

Is nobody else seeing this?

Bring up a Terminal window and execute following. What is the result?

Code:
cd /Applications
ls -l | grep -i Youtube

What does this do?

I do not see the extra icons if I simply click on the Applications folder on my hard drive. I only see them if I put the Applications shortcut on the doc and start it from there.

Thanks.

This finally appears to be resolved in the 10.10.3 public beta. It was still present in 10.10.2.

Update: spoke too soon. It is back in the latest beta 4. Darn.

Thanks.
