iPad Extra imessage icon on ipad dock

E45F5D28-29E7-4EB9-9705-4F7FF156C044.jpeg Once in a while I see 2 imessage icons on my iPad 6 dock. One of them shows an iphone symbol next to it. When I click on it, it goes away. What does this mean?
 
That is handoff. It means that you have iMessage open on another device. If you touch that icon, it will open to where you are on the other device
