Houston (duh)
I've seen them in the Apple store, but I can only seem to find 3 foot long cables! Where can we get the 6 foot cables like you see the demos, and Genius bar folks using in the Apple Store? I thought the iPad came with longer cables, but was wrong.

Anyone find a long sync cable by Apple or Belkin or someone?

I got a generic one from some outfit like Mertiline for not much money. It works fine. Sorry I can't be specific - I bought it sometime ago for my iPhone.

USB extensions should work, also, within reason. I've used them for years since the standard ones are so short. Of course, the longer you go, the more prone to issues you are!

Yeah I know where you can get one. See Cablejive

Try monoprice.com.

I just bought 4 6 foot long cables for like $1.45 each. I haven't received them yet. So they may be junk. I have heard good things about monoprice though.

Which ones did you buy - Link -

I bought these, and I assume those are the same ones others are talking about. I ordered them Monday, had them Saturday with USPS shipping.

The only difference besides length is that the end that plus into the iPad is a bit larger - as they show in their pics.

I've purchased close to 20 cables from Monoprice. Primarily AV Cables such as HDMI... Great quality at affordable price

I just bought 2 of the 6ft syncing cables from monoprice to plug into the iPad charger and they both work. Glad I didn't have to pay $29 for the Apple 6ft charger.

Just get a USB extender from ur local electronic/computer shop. It has male and female on each end. I got mine for under $5.

Dumb question, but do all sync cables also charge? I've run into at least one charge cable that does not sync, not sure if the opposite exists.

I don't know of any that don't, but these certainly do. I have it set up in a bedroom at night to be used as a clock and it charges overnight without a problem.

I used the Apple extension that shipped with my keyboard and I have not had any issues yet ( only two days of usage thus far). Just a low cost thought.

Cheers,

Just ordered one from Meritline. It was $3.99 with free shipping :)

I use the power brick extender cord that came with my MBP. Slide the prongs off the iPad plug and insert he extender cable. I haven't measured it, but I think it's about six feet long. Works great.

thanks for pointing me to Monoprice.com!! Just ordered 12 of those extended cables! What a deal... 12 for the price of one 3' cable from Apple!
