Extra storage for iMac + iPad

Hello to everyone,
my iMac's SSD (start up volume) is almost full. My 16 GB iPad is in the same situation.
I'd like a device (preferred SSD + Wi-Fi) with enough capacity to keep my iMac's and iPad's files.
Is there any product which I can use it as my extra startup volume for iMac and to connect my iPad also for save my iPad's files ? Or I want too much ?

Any suggestions ?

The closest thing you can have is a NAS, but I'm not sure it will provide you with exactly what you're looking for, and it will not be fast. Given the fact that wifi is slow, having an SSD wouldn't matter.

I can't speak for the iPad, but I'd look for an external drive (with an SSD) that can be connected to your mac via a USB 3.0 or TB connection. That will give your mac plenty of extra and fast storage.

I see the iCloud monthly plans but a physical-permanently SSD disk I think is better for me at this point.

How would a SSD disk be connected to a Mac and iPad at the same time? Also, iOS doesn't really have an exposed file system where you can use an external disk for storage.

Maybe with internal disk's application. Or I can get a lightning stick for iPad and separate SSD for iMac. I'm not sure if out there is what I exactly want, perhaps no.

The second one can be accessed by anything I have used the first and second generation versions, the iOS app is for accessing files through iOS rather than a desktop file system.

If you are going over wifi then SSD is pointless as your wifi connection will limit the speed.

Interesting. It needs to open the app in iPad everytime when I want to i.e. watch a video ? I mean the files stored in the app or in the system files ?
In iMac how can I access the disk's files as well ?

The files will be stored as normal on whatever media you use USB storage device or SD card etc, the iOS app then accesses the drive through the mobile lite (or the internal storage of the mobile lite) and you can browse the files as if on your PC. Take a look on the app store it gives some good screen shots.

It will also work as a battery pack for phones and pads and as a wireless router if needed, you may want to look at the 2nd generation one cheaper and seemingly a bit more functionality.

Put a 10TB hard drive inside your iMac.

I highly doubt that you'll be able to fill that.
