Up until yesterday my iPhone had what I would consider normal battery life. Could last a couple days if I didn't play around with it much but normally I would charge it daily incase I used it a lot. Yesterday it went to hell.

I haven't loaded, dropped or done anything to the phone in the last week because I was out of town and had little time to use it. At work I noticed it was getting fairly hot in my pocket and when I looked at it I already drained 40% in two hours after unplugging it without even using it. This continued after a few restarts at around 20% battery drain a hour just in standby mode.

Today I am noticing the same thing so I decided to turn it off and only use it if I needed to. Even off it says slightly warm and drains at 10% a hour. WTF?

Its a 1st generation iPhone with 3.0 on it still. It will no longer sync with iTunes for some reason today and I can't restore it as of this second. Am I screwed?
