This seems to become a trend that after every Big Sur update the scrolling keeps getting worse and worse in Safari, websites like Twitter and Reddit are extremely slow to browse and scrolling is very choppy. I cleared the cache but didn't help, also tried without AdGuard but the scrolling remains very choppy. I'm really disappointed to Apple, I'm really thinking about moving away from MacBooks, even though the upcoming 16" MacBook sounds interesting. And it's not my internet sice I'm getting 800mbps download speeds.

Hasn’t it always been this way? Scrolling on Reddit, for example, is a painful experience. It isn’t even all that great on a Chromium browser but it seems to me that most of the web development is going the way of Chrome. More and more sites aren’t working on Safari and I have to open Brave or some other browser.

To me, being able to insert text message codes I get automatically into the browsing instance makes Safari extremely useful to me. Yes, I know copy/pasting ain’t terribly time consuming but it is a nice time saver for the sites I visit.

I’m not sure if it is Apple’s fault or the site’s fault? I find a lot of these sites to not be all that great on other browsers either.

I‘d recommend you give Brave or Edge a try before blaming Apple and ditching Mac. I mean, you’re more than welcome to go Windows if your heart is pulling for it. I use both daily so I could care less - I know the strengths and cons of each. These are tools.

I'm sorry to be so negative in my post, I do love Apple and their ecosystem and how they keep things simple. But buying a 1479 euro laptop to get choppy scrolling is kinda disappointing. Yes, this choppy scrolling is very old issue, but I feel like Apple couldn't care less and fix this issue, or at least improve it a little instead of making it worse and worse.

I have a $2600 work laptop (HP) and a $6000 work laptop (Dell). Now, I’m not saying I frequent Reddit on these things (cough) but it‘s far from smooth and all seem to hit browser resource limits after just a little while. These sites are horrifically developed and extremely hard on even high end resources imo.

Oh yeah no worries. I am just of the opinion that it’s more the site / browser’s fault than hardware due to my experience. Browsers these days seem to be heading more towards efficiency and the jagged issues are only going to get worse imo.

Yeah, I know that money doesn't guarantee buttery smooth browsing experience, nor does the download speed.

Yes, I have compared side by side Safari 13.1.3 and Safari 14.0.x and it's noticeably worse in Safari 14.

Now, Safari 14.1 (in 11.3 beta) is a bit better than 14.0.x but still worse than 13.1.3.
