Here it is:

Since the 1.0.1 iPhone upgrade, my "deleted items" folder on the Exchange server at work is getting purged everytime I sync my iPhone, and I can't figure out how to prevent this from happening.

My set up: Powerbook G4 10.4.9 at home hard-syncing only media (music, videos, etc.) using latest version of iTunes. MacBookPro 10.4.9 at work hard-syncing only data (bookmarks, calendars, etc.), but not email (I figure, "Why hard-sync email when it comes over EDGE or Wifi just fine?") also using latest version of iTunes. My work email account is set up on iPhone as an Exchange (opposed to IMPA or POP), and in the advanced settings, "Never" is selected for removing deleted messages. Everything works perfectly for weeks and weeks, calendars and all.

Then comes the 1.0.1 iPhone upgrade, and the iPhone's starts displaying pretty much every folder on work's Exchange server I have privlidges to. Great!

But then I notice that when I hard sync at the end of the work day, the deleted items folder in Entourage on the MacBookPro gets emptied. I check the same folder on the server itself (through OWA), and everything's gone there, too. No other foloders are affected.

Thoughts on how to prevent this from happening? I suppose the recent iTunes upgrades could also be the problem, but I don't know.

On the iPhone:

settings/mail/<click on account (above "add account")>/advanced/

You will see a setting for when messages are deleted. Try that. I would think it would only pertain to deleted messages stored on the phone, not the server - but ya never know.
