Hey all, been about 11 years since my last post here, but I'm back lol.
Long story short I'm debating between a 14" Macbook Pro M2 with 16gb RAM for $1750 or a 16" m1 Max with 32GB RAM for $2499 (before taxes).
I'm on the 16" m1 Max right now and i really love it when i'm working directly off the screen, but it's also quite cumbersome to lug around and if i want to lay back and prop it up on my lap (as i'm doing now) it is much harder to stabilize it and it just isn't quite as form-factor-friendly as the 14". i'm constantly worried about banging the back of the screen against stuff and i have to really make room for it when i want to put it down and it takes two hands.
at the same time, i find the screen, touchpad, and speakers to be soooo nice... to the point where, when i go back to a 14" at the store, it almost feels like a toy.
but i test piloted a 14" prior to the 16" and at the time it felt perfect so i think i've just gotten too accustomed to the larger screen. i have an external monitor i can plug into, so i wonder if having the large screen really matters all that much since whenever i want the larger screen real estate i could easily just dock the 14".
i think if the specs were exactly the same i might lean towards the 14", but having 32GB RAM versus 16gb is another big factor for me... i don't honestly do all that much that would require the power of this thing right now, but my concern is that long-term if i get into video editing again, it might be nice to have more ram.
SO... all this being said... just looking for some help on deciding which one to stick with. if anyone has any suggestions or input i'd greatly appreciate it!
