For the last week or so I was running an audio recording on QuickTime on my 2019 iMac running Catalina (10.15.3) and in total it amounted to about 15 gigabytes in size and was approx. 171 hours long. When I ended the recording and saved it, however, it was only 1 gigabyte and only about 9 hours long - the first 9 hours. There were many important things in this recording that I need. I'm sure it must be on my computer somewhere as I could see my space go down by 15GB while this was happening, and it hasn't gone back up again after ending and saving. Does this file still exist or am I screwed?

It should be in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX/Data/Library/Autosave Information/

I actually have that folder bookmarked from a while back, and I checked there first, it's empty :(

Oddly enough, I haven't seen anything go in there since the Catalina update. Was it changed?

Screen recordings are temporary saved in ~/Library/ScreenRecordings

Oh damn, that folder doesn't have the audio recording in question, but it does have a lot of other recordings I've lost in the last few months!! Thank you

MOV file can use 32bit or 64bit values to store duration. Probably QuickTime used 32bit, and those run out after ~10 hours.
