Just a question not trying to stir up anything...

I just purchased an 11" on Saturday. I love it for sure, its more or less replacing my 15" MBP.

One thing I noticed however, is that almost immediately upon using it I start to get a headache around my eyes. I am young, 25, and have never had to wear glasses, I've been told I have near perfect eye sight and I sit in front of a large computer all day at work and have no problems.

So, does anyone else experience any sort of eye strain with the Air 11"? Maybe its just been a coincidence with me (I am prone to headaches) since I've only owned it for a few days. I basically left all the default settings the same but I've zoomed in on a few webpages. But I really don't feel like I have to strain my eyes to read the small font.

I'm 53, and I don't get eye strain, but I do enlarge browsing pages. I simply use the pinch gestures on the trackpad to enlarge the fonts. I also do that in other applications, or at least change default size of the fonts whenever i can.

FWIW -

I'm a wee bit older than 25 and I don't get eye strain at all. In fact, I think the higher pixel density makes all text look crisper...

What I do get eye strain from is reading on the current gen iPad.

I haven't gotten eye strain yet, but like the poster above, if fonts on a web page is too small, I enlarge it right away instead of working my eyes harder. I also initially used firefox and noticed the font edges on certain pages were fuzzier then they are on Safari so I went back to Safari as my default browser.

One thing I noticed is that the screen is very bright and have to reduce brightness or my eyes will tire quickly. In bright light I usually view at 3 clicks down and in dimmer light I dim the screen a lot more.

What helped me was adjusting the contrast. Hold down ctrl, opt, and command simultaneously press < or > to adjust.

Awww, that's so cool. Never knew this one. It's photo processing your desktop wallpaper. Thanx

I had some eyestrain at first, have fonts larger, I found adjusting the contrast has helped, plus, more importantly for me - viewing the screen from further away. I'm longsighted and find that whenever I view the screen closer up for any length of time I feel the eyestrain. I have to keep it around arm's length at least!!!

I should also add I LOVE my 11" and keeping the screen further away seems to have sorted out any issues I had with the viewing.

I'm 24.

Haven't had any eye strain with the MBA 11".

However, as mentioned here, quite often it's too bright!!

Didn't know the contrast tip either..^^

I'm 29 and have had my 11" for a week now. When I first I got I found it quite hard on my eyes (maybe it's worse because I wear contacts?) so I adjusted a few settings to compensate. I set the default text size in Firefox from 10 (I think that's what it was) to 14 and it made a world of difference. Firefox was the only program that hurt my eyes; all others have been fine so far. I also turned down the screen brightness to about 10 bars, which I know isn't very dim, but is dimmer than the default and anything less causes my eyes to strain and squint.

That seems to be the perfect combination for my eyes, and I'm absolutely loving my MBA with these changes! Which is great because at first I was worried that I would have to exchange it for a 13".
