Has anyone succeeded yet to record tv shows with the EyeTV 2 software and an USB hardware like EyeTV Diversity, EyeTV Hybrid or EyeTV DTT on its AppleTV?

I want to use my AppleTV and connect an EyeTV USB and use it as a PVR.
It doesn't have to be in HD. SD will work fine for me.

Looking forward for you reply.

Best regards,
Dennis

Recording with Apple TV

I recorded a show last night using EyeTV and it seemed to record fine except that the file conversion to Apple TV took about 9 hours for a 1 hour clip. That's too long.

I think what he meant was connecting the EyeTV directly to the AppleTV, not converting it with another machine for use on AppleTV.

I got EyeTV / 250 installed on the USB OS X attached to the AppleTV but need a audio driver and a better video resolution if there is one...

The software from what I can see will recognize the EyeTV/250 USB connected to the AppleTV...

So if I can locate a sound and video driver, I should be in business.

I don't really care about watching EyeTV shows through the AppleTV interface. I just want 1 box to do it all even if I need to use different apps to do it..

So you've installed OS X on the AppleTV and then just installed EyeTV as normal? I'm starting to consider going down that route myself...

How Do You Take 9 Hours To Transcode An EyeTV Recording?

Recording how with which model on which Mac? How are you trying to transcode it? No way will it take that long normally on anything but the weakest Macs. BTW FYI You need to be recording DIGITAL TV not Analog TV to get rapid high quality transcodes. There is a TON of native digital SD and HD TV in the air. Cable is completely unnecessary and many times makes things WORSE than what you get off air for FREE.

I record free hdtv i.e. the office with eyetv and if I choose any encoding via the eye tv software it takes about 8 or 9 hrs. It's absolutely insane.  I've tried the ipod version and it took 9 hrs on a 17" mbp 2.33ghz 2gb ram. The apple tv took even longer and I just gave up when I woke up the next morning and it was still encoding. I have no idea how come it takes so damn long when I can use visual hub or handbrake and it takes at best an hour if it is a particularly long movie or something. Eyetv encoding software sucks. It produces great quality don't get me wrong, but damn does it take a long time.

That's about how long it takes on my 1.42GHz G4 Mini. Much faster on my MacBook C2D, but my Mini is what's connected to my EyeTV. Not practical to use my MB for TV recording, unfortunately.
