Sorry for the long post (I know most if not all of this has been covered), I did search but I could not find exactly what I was looking for.

I recently bought an EyeTV Hybrid and things were going well (love it). Now I find out my cable company is requiring us to use a Mini Box.

If I had to do it over I would have bought the EyeTV HD but I would like to make use of the EyeTV hybrid I have.

Currently I use the EyeTV hybrid to record our local stations in HD (passed along through our cable company) this is the part that is going away that bothers me most. The new mini box will not pass through any HD content. I could go with the next level of cable box but those do not have the coax output to work with my EyeTV hybrid.

I can just use an antenna to receive the OTA HD content using my EyeTV Hybrid but there are also a few programs on basic cable that I also would like to record. So my problem is how I combine the OTA feed with the feed from the "mini box". I could use an A/B switch but I know if would be difficult to remember to manually switch it when needed.

I know that I can buy an IR blaster to change the channel on the "mini box" and I may just have to do this and live with no HD.

I guess i could just try and sell the EyeTV hybrid but with it being less then a month old i would like to avoid that.

Less then a month old maybe you can still return it, then buy the HD.
