Just tried transferreing some old Hi8 tapes from my camcorder to my 1.8 ssd Air. There was lots of stuttering and dropouts. I then tried my white macbook and there were no problems. Is this due to the slow write times of the 64gb ssd? Would the rev B ssd do better?

i just ordered the eye tv 250. was concerned about the hybrid because of limited processing power on my mba revB, and the 250 supposedly does the encoding on its own. am curious to hear from others about their experience with the mba and any eye tv product... didnt get very many responses to my post.

When I tried transferring the tape to the Air, istat was showing a cpu utilization of around 145%. I don't think the cpu is the limiting factor. Since the air and macbook share the same integrated graphics, I can only assume it it the ssd that is holding the air back??

hmm, dunno that's a great point. then again, i just assumed that eye tv 250 dedicated unit was boosting the graphics power (vs std cpu)

either way, it seems like no one else is trying this stuff with their mba. once my eyetv 250 arrives, ill let you know what results i get. he have a new mb in the house too, so i can compare the results.

My revB MBA is fine and it has an SSD. I think this is norm for the original MBA. I had one - what a piece of junk it was. I could not speak more highly of the revB MBA.

A vs B
PATA vs SATA-II drive connection
65 NM vs 45 NM Penryn CPU
Intel graphics vs Nvidia
667 MHz RAM vs 1066 MHz RAM
mini DVI vs Mini Display Port
and the list doesn't stop there.

I am amazed by my revB MBA daily...

Whoa 145% CPU utilization?!?

I have a 2.53ghz mbp and even though it is faster, when I launch eyetv hybrid I havnt seen my CPU go past 30%.
