f key toggle?

So I just switched to mac and I have my wonderful new powerbook, but I can't figure out how to make it so that the f keys are toggled on rather than the functions like screen brighten and such. I know how to use the fn key but I need to toggle them on. I hope someone out there can help me. Thanks in advance
