Any other F1 geeks around here? :D

Just wondering if anyone knows whether F1 2010 will be available on the Mac as well as a game

one right here!

I guess by the time it's recoded F12011 will be due!

Awesome game though, playing it o a PS3 with the Logitech GT wheel and pedals- great fun!

You don't even want to play this game on Mac even if it was available, run it under Windows. This game is not light. This is because you are forced to use AA, because else it looks very bad.

So just use bootcamp and you're good to go :)

F1 2010 has been stopped btw, so I don't think there will be a Mac version. Maybe with F1 2011 :p

I know

Hey I saw nobody replied so I actually join to reply to a fellow fan. I have a 13
MacBook pro from mid 2009 with a nvidia 320m and I have a 30gb partition with windows 7 64 bits. I have the game and it runs smoothly at the lowest settings. I haven't experimented to see how much I can crank the graphics up. Your short answer though is yea it will run. Just make sure you update the drivers for your specific graphics card for whatever windows you run. I ordered a Logitech driving force gt wheel due next week. It's a good game for sure. It's realistic (I'm an engineer) and it's a lot of fun. On mine it doesn't look impressive but at least the physics make sense. With a wheel and or on a console, it's well worth the money. Ps it runs well with the Mac connected to a tv for external display. Once again, just update your driver once you get boot camp working. If you are still curious msg me and I can probably get you a gameplay video so that you can see what it looks like, because the people on YouTube have much better graphics settings (check them out, though).
Cheers

I was really excited about this game.

Unfortunately it has failed just about every one of my expectations.

The simulation aspects are just subpar. The AI is horrible and the rules are horrible as well. When I get hit in the back, I get penalized for it… that's just F'd up. If I spin out and can't move because I don't want to run into traffic, it's called illegal blocking? How about red flagging the race or maybe implement safety cars. Plus I can hit an opponent at 200MPH and somehow drive away with nary a broken front wing.

Weather is weird. Somehow I can get just as fast laptimes and just as much grip as a dry track when it's heavy rain. And if I manage to burn out all my wet tires, it won't let me continue even if I have intermediates left.

Some AI never pit. It's part of the rules. If I drive and pit all of a sudden one or two are in front of me by 20 seconds. I mean that's just ridiculous.

And we all know the option tires can last the whole race, yet we can only use them for 7 laps? Also the options are way too fast compared to the primes.

Finally shifting is laggy. I want 2 gears shifted down yet it only reads on gear shift? That really sucks when you're trying to overtake or someone is trying to overtake you.

Overall I'm not too happy with it, so I don't really care if it comes the Mac anytime soon.

Wow, you are one tough critic. You should send those comments over to Codemasters (http://www.codemasters.com/index.php?territory=EnglishUSA)

I wanted to get bootcamp to play that specific game.. I might try to rent it first, then make a choice.

Thanks for the review.

Thanks for all the replies guys :D

Re the F1 thread, do you have a link? I can't search for it as "F1" is too short a term for a search
