Do you guys think that the iPhone models releasing this year (late 2018) will have an improved second generation Face ID sensors, or will they keep the current one that on the iPhone X. Wondering because Apple used first gen Touch ID for iPhone 5s and 6, before upgrading to the second gen on the 6s and forward. Could this mean that no improved Face ID sensors (except for software improvements) until 2019 iPhone? What are your thoughts?

I believe it will be updated. Especially in terms of wider angle. Currently it’s super annoying if you hold the phone too close to your face and it doesn’t work (e.g. in bed without glasses).

Also possible for it to be updated to work in landscape orientation, something necessary for iPad use, for example.

Work to be done.

It should be an expectation that Face ID will improve over the course of time, the same as Touch ID was. With Face ID, I'm sure they will improve more accuracy with different angles and positions being used. I don't think the speed of Face ID will be the focus necessarily as much as different angles and methods of unlocking the iPhone does.

I think it’s sh** I wish they would bring back touchid. I hate the FaceID on my X. I disabled it and just slide up to unlock now.
