Hello

I have my iPad Pro configured in a way that Face ID should require attention to unlock the iPad. On iPhone, one must look directly at the screen to unlock the phone. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen on my iPad Pro, and I find it a security flaw, to be honest. I don’t want anyone to unlock my iPad without my consent, and just barely facing the iPad towards my face, even if I’m not looking at the screen, the iPad unlocks.

I know the area of recognition is bigger because the screen is bigger than an iPhone, however, I don’t find it safe to unlock if I’m looking in a 45 degree angle away from the screen. I waited to update my ipad to the latest version, and it works the same. I switched off and on again the “require attention”, maybe it was a bug or something, but no, even with “Require attention“ on, it still unlocks when it shouldn’t, while looking away from the screen.

Do you experience the same with your 2018 11” iPad Pro? Is this normal for iPads with Face ID or it just happens in this model?

Thanks for reading.

Consider yourself lucky. Sometimes mine will not unlock unless and until I stand still, brush my hair, smile and say “open sesame”.

Turn off Face ID and then set it up again. See if that'll work.
