It’s annoying that I have to put a fake smile to unlock.

Touch ID is MUCH more convenient.

I LOL’d when I read this drinking my coffee this morning.

Facial recognition takes scans of different parameters like the relative position, size, and/or shape of the eyes, nose, cheekbones, and jaw that it doesn’t matter what expression you make when scanning, it will work.

So even if you go out of your way to NOT have a normal expression faceID will still work.

If this is true and not a troll my friend, re-take your scan and don’t smile like the joker. :p

Yes, the problem is that fake smile that you used to scan your face in the first place :D
Re-scan your face, and try not to think about how much you enjoyed doing that the first time you scanned.
The scan is for you --- and not meant to be a selfie. :p

I don't know why I found this so funny. My face is permanently grumpy looking so I don't have that issue. LOL.

I set mine up while sticking out my tongue and crossing my eyes. It won’t unlock until I do that. It gets so annoying-man do I miss Touch ID...

I think your post is just a way to interject something negative about Face ID because you prefer touch ID. If you have an iPhone X, then you know that you can train your face normally.

I remember reading on here that some could have massive problems with others unlocking their phones against their will using Face ID while they slept. At least you won't have that problem!

I don't remember if I smiled or not when I set up Face ID. I do know that irregardless of my countenance while setting it up it works 98% of the time whether or not I am smiling or scowling. Also wearing my glasses or not or even wearing sunglasses makes no difference it just works.

I have discovered that on very cold days when I'm wearing a Balaclava Face ID will not work, even if I put on my sunglasses it still does not work. I have to let my face freeze to open my iPhone, bummer! You would think that Apple engineers could do something about this.

Type in 6 digit pin after FID fails, it will learn, give it time, or just redo it. Mine works flawlessly, even at arms length. If it doesn't then I did something wrong. Touch ID was a PIA.

OP’s post is somewhat typical with his other started threads. Just being provocative.

My FaceID works so well it has become translucent in it operation.
Exactly-the switch from Touch ID is a touchy subject. Easy to get a click by complaining about it. Might be good natured, but the defense of Touch ID is and has been tiresome. It was good-but Face ID is better.

Lol-yeah, that might work. I was joking but now I’m tempted to see if this would actually work....
