That's an impossible question to answer at this time.
Really?!...
One could speculate. I’m sure analysts are already creating the prototype look on the next iPhone. This years “leaks” were pretty accurate and came out months before the keynote.

Two words...Apple WatchThank you for the clarifications and tap to wake helps, but if I have a device flat on a conference table and tap to see that I have a text I need to respond to, I still am in the awkward position of either picking it up or leaning my face over the table in order to engage Face ID. This will tip off the rest of the people in the meeting that I'm not entirely paying attention, and this happens to me several times a day.
I know, right? As someone who uses her Apple Watch all the time to discreetly check messages (and MLB scores) in boring meetings and in my own classes (where students have to put their "devices" away) I think the Watch is made for boltjames! Plus his boarding pass will be . . . on his Watch so no pulling a phone out of his pocket. Two words...Apple Watch
Yeah, I'm sure Apple already has prototypes for the next iPhone.
Anyway, my main question is: Is that your husky? Cuz he/she is so freaking cute!
no from what i've seen on demos, there will be a button on the pay pop-up that will say tap to pay with faceid. once you tap that button faceid will activate.Quick question on Face ID, sometimes when I am in iTunes and browsing music or tv shows to buy, I will click the buy button, and sometimes I click the wrong song or TV episode, which isn’t a problem with Touch ID, since I just press cancel and never place my thumb on the print to pay. If this occurs with the X, won’t the phone automatically purchase whatever I press buy on since I will be looking at the screen?

not as brilliant as touch id IMO but it works.
its different I think. because apple pay will no longer be triggered by RFID. you have to physically double press the side button, look at it (choose your card in the meantime) then present to the chip reader. This is equal to the apple pay workflow on the Apple Watch.Perhaps that's the workflow in iTunes, but that's not the workflow at Starbucks.
At the register terminal, I choose a credit card, then put my thumb on the home button, done. With the iPhone X, if I choose the wrong credit card while (of course) looking at the screen, boom, charge on the wrong credit card.
It's going to be interesting to read all the Face ID fail threads. No, not a fail because the recognition didn't work; fails because of workflows that aren't anticipated.
the workflow of presenting your iphone 6 to the reader with your thumb on the reader and done will no longer exist.
That's an impossible question to answer at this time.

What makes you say that? They have repeatedly said that it works in darkness. IR ≠ visible light.Seems that faceID is not working in complete darkness when night shift is ON

Not really. You won’t buy this year X because you’re waiting for next year iteration of the X. You make it sound like there is going to be some major improvement or jump in technology, when there won’t be. There will be small incremental updates to next year phone. So if you don’t think it’s worth upgrading to the X this year, I don’t see how you can think it’s absolutely worth upgrading next year.
I hate TouchID. It rarely works for me. Extremely frustrating and bogs me down trying over and over and over, only to then have to enter the code. Hold the phone up? It turns on? This I need and one of the main reason I want to purchase the X.
All the cases you posted are valid concerns.
At best, FaceID will require little more than an additional 1 second delay to do its work. But it may prove that FaceID will impose more of an imposition than TouchID to unlock your phone.
We don't know.
But I believe Apple blundered by choosing not to support TouchID in the ipX.
As I said countless times before...TouchID is a proven and convenient means to unlock your phone.
It was irresponsible of Apple to not include it. We don't know if TouchID will be replaced by FaceID at some point in the future.
ipX users are beta testers of this new technology.
I don't beta test. End of story.
With Face ID there’s a less chance someone can unlock your phone than Touch ID. Apple has shown great deal of interest in privacy.
I think you should have your phone and fingers checked, Touch ID in all gen iphone i never had any issue unlocking the phone.

Face ID is not all about technology its about safety and privacy too. With Face ID there’s a less chance someone can unlock your phone than Touch ID. Apple has shown great deal of interest in privacy.
Say what? You lost me there...How does that tie into face recognition exactly?Imagine how easy to do upskirt videos?
I've thought a fair amount about it and I think it will be a tradeoff. There will be times where FID will be just as quick and easy, maybe moreso, and sometimes it will be a bit more effort than TID - much of that only less appealing due to more of a laziness factor than anything else.Don't be silly guys. Everyone knows that iPhone's are mostly used on a table 2-3 feet away or in their pocket. It rarely is ever in a position where the camera would see your face. Face ID is a fail.
