Face ID not working after 12.1?

My face id was worked flawlessly since ive had an iphone that uses it. I have an XS Max and just upgraded to 12.1 about an hour ago. Now face id wont work, I reset it, and it says face id not available.

Any ideas on what to do? I have rebooted,reset,etc. Only thing ive not done is restore from a backup.

Try restoring as new and not from a backup.

Before a full on restore, I wold perform a 'reset all settings' and see if that will solve it. That will solve a lot of weird issues without deleting all your apps and data. Just have to add back wifi networks and run back through your settings and set up like you want. Also Apple pay, touchID/FaceID have to be set back up too.
