Hey there. Wondering if anyone else is encountering this. Pretty much daily, multiple times a day, when I am not using my iPhone 16 Pro the Face ID randomly comes up attempting to identfy my face. Mind you it’s happening when the phone is nowhere near my face and is just sitting on the desk. This never happened on an other iPhone or iPad. I’m curious as to why this is happening and if there is a remedy. It’s distracting.

Happens to me as well, sometimes when I’m asleep. FaceID disable itself, then I have to enter my passcode to re-enable it. I use an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

If it is close enough to be distracting, then you probably close enough for sensor to register your movements. Perhaps 16P sensor more sensitive than previous models.

Under face ID and passcode, maybe change your attention aware settings? Or, move the iPhone further away from you while on the desk, or the other person sleeping. If the iPhone detects what it thinks is your face, it's going to try to register your face and unlock the phone.

Or, do you have lots of banging or movement on your desk? A lesser possibility is this: under display and brightness, turn off "Raise to wake." See if that stops your iPhone from randomly lighting up the screen while on your desk.
