I noticed that after I had some skin problems on my face frozen off by the dermatologist and I haven't shaved for a couple of days, face id has slowed down a little. The amount of the slowdown is very small. I use the phone with two hands. Prior to this slowdown I would pick it up and point it at my face with my left hand and before I could get it totally in front of me and raise my right hand, it would unlock. Now I have to wait momentarily to swipe with my right hand. Not a huge deal but it its real. I suppose I could re-do face id to my "new" face but it's not worth it. I do have facial recognition off in settings.

Do another Face ID then.

It’s not worth the minute to redo your Face ID, but it is worth the time to make a post about how your Face ID is not working as well anymore after changes to your face, and it’s not worth the time to redo it?

Thanks for the constructive criticism. I thought other members on the forum would like to know this aspect of the phone. You must be great at parties.

Same face, same Face ID speed.
Different face, different Face ID speed.

Pretty simple, redo Face ID. 5 seconds of your time is nothing.

"I had cosmetic surgery and now Face ID is slow." the only thing this thread is missing is a 'gate' suffix. I'm in agreement with the others. Clear out your face ID and start over.

I recall many people saying there is some Machine Learning that faceID uses. Guess it doesn't.

It does, and that updating could be the cause of slowdowns - it's processing and writing back the differences. Additionally it probably has a few different layers of processing by which it can confirm a match, when it's fast it's probably taking a relatively naive approach. Do something to throw it off, it will have to do additional work.

The bigger the delta the more load on the system. Once someone's face stops changing it probably will speed up again.

I don't think you need to redo it, it just may take so many unlockings before it stabilizes to the changes.

Instead of making a post about it, try redoing Face ID Einstein

Ooooohhhhh you got him on that regurgitated “fun at parties” line. Obviously a person with common sense would have tried to redo FID instead of trying to make some sort of “gate” out of something that can be fixed on its own. How about this one, have you rebooted your device? Stop wasting people’s time.

You do realize this thread is almost 2 months old? Which I'm sure the OP has remedied the issue at this point. I don't think your post offers much in terms of actual advice by stating "Stop Wasting people's time" on a discussion board. Not to mention, at the time of this thread when it was created, was literally right after the launch of the iPhone X, when other users were still learning to adapt.

 That’s not very nice.

Reread my Post and the post I replied too. Nothing was inconsiderate in my Post at all in reply to that member, in which they were chastising someone else over Face ID by telling someone to "Stop wasting people's time" without even looking at the date of this thread they replied to. That's not conducive to discussion and no one is wasting anyone's time on a discussion forum that they could simply ignore.
