Hello! I want to share my negative experience with the Face Tune application. I live in Germany and I’m used to the fact that people here are not so blatantly deceived. Before the New Year, I prepared cards for family and friends. I was looking for an application for photo processing. By logging into the FaceTune application, I signed up for a 3-day trial subscription. This app does not have an automatic one-month renewal option. Instead, the developers made a trap and if the client is inattentive or busy, they issue you a subscription for a year. I was busy with holiday things. The mood was terrible, I had lost my pregnant wife and the holiday was especially painful for me. As a result, on December 31, $72 was debited from my account for an annual subscription to FaceTune. This is despite the fact that since December 24 I have never logged into the application, deleting it after 5 minutes of use. Thus, the company developing this application makes money from people’s random mistakes. I consider this state of affairs unacceptable. The subscription must be renewed for a month, and then optionally for a year. Otherwise it's a scam. Application support wrote to me that I should deal with the AppStore. I wrote a request, but so far there is no answer. Be careful, don't repeat my mistake. Happy New Year!

This is why I can't stand subscriptions. They almost always seem built to lure people in with an innocent-looking trial, and try to prey on people forgetting to cancel. Sorry you had to go through this the hard way.

Yes. That is why I never even trial subscription based apps, and avoid services as much as possible. They have all sorts of sneaky traps, and frequently make it very hard to unsubscribe.

Plus, everyone knows those services you sign up for and then never use and keep paying for: example, gyms. Recently there was a court case here in the states where a gym chain was found guilty of making it next to impossible for people to quit.
Personally, I don’t have the problem of not exercising, but one time, 20 years ago I moved and signed up to a new local gym. It was a huge mistake. They gave me a tour during a time in the day when the traffic in the gym was minimal and when I came back to use it a hours that were available to me outside of work, I found it impossible to access the equipment as there were too many people and other problems. I had a very hard time getting out of the “contract” (ended up blocking the from my credit card). Lesson learned.

Btw. this goes for Apple services too. They gave me free 3 mo. Apple TV when I bought my 2020 MBP, but the MBP was faulty and I traded it back. But the charges for Apple TV continued even though I had nothing to watch it on. And there was a mixup with my wife’s Apple ID and mine, so I couldn’t even unsubscribe because it never showed up as a sub on my Apple ID. It was a huge hassle to get rid of it.

And I think it’s evil of Apple to put the burden on the customer. It should be the other way around after the free period you should ACTIVELY have to subscribe to continue, and not have Apple automatically subscribe you unless you cancel. With busy lives it’s easy to forget or not get around to it. I ended up paying for Apple TV for almost two years while never watching it… OK, I should have been more proactive, so it’s also on me to have let it go so long, but it’s still customer hostile to have it default to subscriptons like that (what finally pushed me to fight this is when they raised the price and I saw an article warning folks to watch out).

From then on, I avoid free trials from Apple also. At the end of November I bought an MBA. They offered free Apple TV trial - **** THAT, no thank you. I bought a Mac Mini in December, same offer. **** that. I bought an iPad 10 a couple weeks ago - offered me Apple News trial - **** that.

I hate all such customer hostile practices, and avoid all subscriptions as much as humanly possible. I got my internet and that’s it. No cable, and pay as you go phone service. For the rest **** that.

Hello! I want to say that the developers of the Facetune application and AppStore employees turned out to be decent people. They got into my situation and returned my money. I want to thank them and wish everyone a Happy New Year and the upcoming Christian Christmas! Let the universe save us from wars and diseases!IMG_2248.jpeg

Hello!

I hope all is well! I can't believe I found this post online because I recently just went through something similar. I signed up for a free trial with facetune and I canceled before the 7 days ended. However, I checked on my credit card and I see a transaction for $59.99!! This is not okay and they ended up charging me for no reason. When I emailed them, they responded with "reach out to apple support". I spoke to apple support and they told me that there is no way that they can refund me any of the money because there is NO CHARGE on my apple account (it says 0.00$ because I never purchased it, only the free trial). On my credit card, it says transaction by Facetune, NOT apple. Therefore apple can not refund me and thats what they told me when I called them.

Can you please let me know how you were able to have your money refunded from facetune? I am desperate and I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks!
