Does anyone else have issues with Facebook draining their battery? When I use Facebook I feel like I can feel the battery life getting sucked out of my phone. Does anyone have any tips to improve this or even an alternative to the Facebook app that doesn’t remove too many features?

Check background app refresh and set it to off, also keep notifications off unless you are a heavy FB user. FB app is known for battery draining since long, so I uninstalled it and use FB website in Safari.
I would be skeptical of using 3rd party apps for FB, Instagram, Twitter etc especially the free ones because of data privacy and other issues.

Thank you for the suggestions. I was thinking about using safari but also found something called Friendly Plus for Facebook that has really good reviews. Might give that a try. I do notice that Facebook shows a ton of notifications which could be draining because the screen lights up. Doesn’t safari use a ton of battery too though?

That depends on what you are doing - for casual browsing, not much but watching videos, YouTube can drain the battery. In that case Safari itself is not the culprit.

Also, check location services for FB app, mic access and camera. There was a report that FB app was using mic in the background by playing a silent audio which was affecting battery life. If mic and camera are not often used then I would turn it off as well.

FB app also tends to quickly accumulate in size and doesn't offer any option for cleaning the cache (at least it didn't use to haven't checked it recently though), so I just use its mobiles site in Safari.

Doesn’t safari use a ton of battery too though?
