So I have Facebook set up to sync my contacts, and it did a pretty good job of merging my Facebook contacts with the contacts that are "On My Mac". The problem I am having, is now I have contacts that have 2 completely different sets of information. They show up as one listing on the left, but down at the bottom of their information on the right, there is a section:

Cards:On My Mac
Facebook

When I click on each of these, they are completely different, with different pictures and everything. When I sync these out to other services, Google for example, only what is "On My Mac" gets synced, not "Facebook". Is there a way to make what is coming in from Facebook just be "On My Mac", and not have 2 different sets of information?
Thanks!

I hope you backed up your address book before you turned on that feature! I took a different approach. Sure I signed in to Facebook, but 10ms later my fingers were clicking to disable sync of calendar and contacts. I went a little further down and picked "send contacts to facebook" on my iPhone 4. What this did was send data to Facebook to find people in my address book that had Facebook accounts. It found 279. I got photos for most of them and I had as many contacts afterwards as I had before. The down side is contact information for my entire address book fell into the hands of Facebook. Oh well. It's proved useful in the past keeping up with relatives who change their email and their phone numbers every 2 years but never their facebook account so for me it was worth it.

Perhaps you can turn off contacts sync, restore you backup. I made one before I logged in to Facebook. Actually, what I did was try logging in to Facebook, saw the warning that my address book would get "merged", aborted and backed it up before logging in again. This time I kept a keen eye on the preferences dialog so I could turn off that doggone sync before an extra 279 records could get shoved down my throat.

Perhaps turning off contacts sync will make those cards disappear. Then you can "send to facebook" to get just the photos without messing up your address data. A lot of people put junk data in their facebook profile and I'd hate to have the right email address or phone get overwritten by something bogus.

I just tried disabling contact sync for Facebook in Main, Contacts & Calendars, and hit Update Profile Photos, and it said it updated 69 pictures, but looking at them, they are not the pictures people have as their current Facebook profile picture. Syncing with Facebook in any way is not affecting my contacts at all, it either creates all new cards, or does absolutely nothing.
