Looks like Facebook is at it again, on 4 different iOS devices, same behaviour. Different accounts.
1 iPad running 15.7 - capture of this post.
3 iPhones running 16.0.2 - iPhone 14 PM capture

Facebook app is using huge background time. The window is last 10 days iPad and 24h iPhone

Yep, I uninstalled it from my 14 PM and I’m using it in the browser till they fix this. Having it run in the background while background app refresh is off is kind of creepy to be honest.

Maybe I should try to install it on my iPad

Huh.. in the past decade, articles have suggested deleting social media apps to save battery (esp. Facebook), where they can eat up to 25% of your daily usage of battery (even if you don't use it that often). Does background activity suck up a lot of battery? Either way, it is rather unwholesome.

Looks like the last version of facebook (386.0) solved the issue for some users.
i’ll install it on a test phone to see.

And yes, my new iPhone 14 pro max still has 70% battery after 1 day, with Facebook and Messenger deleted that is.

Maybe they fixed it. Let us know.

To be honest I’m enjoying the short break from Facebook. I still check it occasionally in Brave browser but it’s not as engaging and more difficult to navigate so it means I don’t stay on as long.

More time for us i guess.
Facebook is such a pile of rubbish, i heard they want to “reduce the number of employees” , so they gave some people 30 days deadline to find another job inside the company or get fired.

Well, to be fair, I think a lot of companies are hurting due to the economy. Facebook is hurting because of that, but mostly due to failures caused by Zuckerberg. I have to avoid that one because I’ll attract the ire of the mods. I really try to behave 😉 😂

You are right. Back to topic, my iPad fb app is no longer eating 9 background hours per day (i don’t even use that device for facebooking).
On my 14 Pro Max , still monitoring.
I would quit FB in an instant, but family, friends, groups, etc…. Can’t really convince the entire population to just pack things and go to another platform.

Same here. It’s the way to stay in touch with old friends who moved away. I’m going to download it again and see if it’s better
