Facebook app ignores background refresh restrictions?

I have turned off background refresh for the Facebook app. However, when checking the battery consumption screen in the Settings, I often see "Background activity" note for Facebook. What does it mean? I though there should not be any background activity for the Facebook app. Do I actually have to close the app every time now to avoid it consuming battery in the background?

Thanks, it's very informative. I'm glad to hear that others are aware of that behaviour of the FB app. I'll try using FB in Safari instead (as suggested in the thread).

well known issue ... I would suggest to avoid FB entirely, but I know Im asking too much ...
