Facebook chat

Please don't hurt me. I've been searching all night for a solution, but can't find one.

I remember reading that people had accessed facebook and found that the chat system still worked. Albeit thee interface was in the middle of the screen. When I log onto facebook the ui doesn't pop up at all.

Anyone have some insight to lay on me? Gently, please.

Yeah man this problem only started today, I was using chat fine and it wad working amazingly. Yet me and my friends both can't even access the chat feature on our ipads. This sucks,I hope they fix it soon.

I noticed this today as well. I assumed Facebook took it down until they could fix it from staying in the middle of the screen while you scroll down. Hope they put it back up though!

I don't see why you would need an app when the Facebook site is fully functioning. Maybe they can make a killer app though. The chat was working for me as well, up until yesterday.

Chat stopped working for me too. Meebo does support FB chat, though.

Same issue here, but it worked perfectly for me on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday, the chat box didn't appear at all. Is there any link on facebook itself that address the issue?

I don't see why you would need an app when the Facebook site is fully functioning.

Pls go upload a photo to an album, then tell me how it is FULLY functioning on the website..

AIM app has Facebook support

Perhaps you could try the AIM app available in the app store. The app is free and IMO the interface is very nice. It also supports facebook chat with push notifications, so you can use other apps or visit other sites and keep your chats going.

Same here guys. Facebook chat was working pretty well for a few days after launch, now nothing.

I cleared cache, cookies, history in Safari settings but no dice. Anyone else have any leads?

Unfortunately the iPhone app isn't going to cut it for me.

Yup. I think they took it down for iPad users and maybe they'll find a way to make it work correctly now. Then again, maybe they won't.

I am using the aim lifestream dealy on the aim app. I can say plainly that is it a very good substitute.

I will however delete the app the moment we get an in browser chat system on facebook. It is just a hassle trying to go between safari and the app.

Never realized how symbiotic both pieces were in my facebook experience.

I can't seem to get AIM lifestream to work on my iPad. I can add my facebook account and it used to give me the option to go online with that account, but when I selected online it would immediately go back offline. Deleted the app and reinstalled it and now it doesn't even give me the option to go online anymore. And none of my facebook friends show up in my friends list.

This is a huge deal to me because i was excited to get the ability to chat on my ipad and that was one small thing i got it for. I sure hope they put it back sometime soon...

Did you go to services when from the handle selector button?

That should prompt you to active the service. I had problems initially, but after I had done that everything is working smoothly for me.

I just tried lite.facebook.com on my iPad and chat works in it. It's not the full facebook but I think it works well till the official app....

Looks like the chat is a pop out, so I closed FB Lite, left the chat open and opened a reg window with FB Full. Only downside is having to check the window on occasion.

yup...the cool thing is that the chat is a bit easier to manage in that window. I mean compared to normal facebook (when it worked a few days ago). It's a bit more finger friendly
