Hi all!

I'm wondering if Apple seriously wants me to merge Facebook and iCloud contacts on every single device (Mac as well as iPhone and iPad) or if I missed something. I must have missed something as I can't imagine I would have to merge every newly added dual iCloud/Facebook contact on all devices separately.

Thanks in advance!

Turning on the contacts option in facebook settings will pull down your facebook contacts into your addressbook. If you don't press 'update all contacts' it won't upload contacts on your iPhone to facebook.

When facebook is enabled, it is considered a separate source under the 'groups' of your addressbook. In my experience, this group is not synced, it has to be enabled per device.

As far as merging two contacts for the same person per device, I haven't tried to see if the FB data disappears after disabling facebook contacts. I think I can test this with a less important friend and see what happens :) .

I know, I'm not talking about the contact cards itself. I really only want this connection of the two separate sources you're mentioning to be synced:

I just can't imagine that I would have to merge Facebook and iCloud contacts on every single device.

Anyways, and thanks for your answer so far! :)
