For the past few weeks I've encountered a problem where my iPhone 6 Plus is crashing and rebooting almost every time I use Facebook Messenger. I open the app, it might work for a minute or so, and then the screen will freeze for a bit before the iPhone spontaneously restarts, giving me the white screen with the Apple logo.

This has been happening a few times a day for a little less than a month. Sometimes I don't even have to open the Messenger app; just getting a push notification from Messenger (even on the lock screen) is enough to force my phone to restart. I've tried a factory reset, but no luck.

Is this a known issue? Didn't fine anything in search. I know my iPhone 6 Plus with its 1GB of RAM is getting long in the tooth (I'm hoping to replace it when the 2018 iPhones are announced) but ideally I won't have to deal with this until then.

Sounds like your phone can no longer keep up with the app demand. Try finding a less demanding app that can function in place for you, until you get a new phone.

I wouldn't put up with constant crashing and rebooting. I would delete that app in a heartbeat if I were in your iPhone shoes.
