My facebook app on my iphone just recently started to show a "People You May Know" section at the very top of all my friends posts and I cant figure out how to get rid of it? Anyone know?

Very easy to get rid of it. Press the home button to exit the app. Touch the app and hold it until it jiggles. Touch the X that appears on the top left and then touch Delete.

I think they mean how to get rid of the people you know part of the app, not the entire app...

other options are

beejive for FB - it includes status updates

Facely - i thought it was ok but too tabby

Tweetdeck - new version is pretty nice! merged timelines!!

Seesmic - also handles twitter and FB

I would say this "people you may know" is FB version of twitters quick bar AKA #dickbar

Not much you can do about it except give it a one-star review, complain on Facebook's page about the iPhone app and hope they fix it.

Hopefully they can do something about the fact it doesn't cache worth a damn any more, keeps crashing and you still can't copy and paste at the same time.

the facebook app is a mess. Hard to believe they would invest such little interest in making it useable. As popular as facebook is, as popular as the iPhone is, why not give us an app that actually works?

The "people you may know" is extremely annoying. Nothing worse than accidentally friend requesting someone you don't even like in the real world.

I guess the best options have already been stated- give it a poor rating, or switch to one of the 3rd party facebook apps.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8H7 Safari/6533.18.5)

Why the hell have they added this? As if it's not enough seeing random people that I 'may know' (most of which I do actually know, but have no interest in adding on Facebook) on the Facebook website, now I have to see them in this horrible intrusive bar on the Facebook app. I quite like the Facebook app on the odd occasion that they update it and it actually works, but this latest addition is far too intrusive and I'm confused as to why they thought this was a good idea! Rant over.

My wife has it on hers, but mine doesn't. We both have the same one also, both up to date.

Have you, by any chance, recursively added every person you know, every person every person you know knows, etc. etc. ... pretty much a friends list of 6 billion people?

that'd explain it! ;)

It has stopped doing it now on my app! Has it stopped for everyone else? Maybe they have decided to listen to all the 1 star reviews...

Stopped on mine too thankfully. Now if I could just stop getting the same notification over and over I'd be happy.

they're back!

soon as you thought you were no longer annoyed they have returned this "people you may know" junk

its so strange, now mines been gone for 2 days. Its like it appears every mid-week.

I know there was an update earlier this week but i really think theres something to this mid-week "people u may know" junk. MAybe its FB's version of #FF

switch to another app

I removed the facebook app and installed the suggested 'friendly for facebook' app on my iphone. The annoying pictures of 'people you may know' do not show up on the timeline under the new app. Hooray!
