Hi,

I've decided to spend some time assigning faces to the hundreds of photos I have in my iCloud Photo Album.

I know they don't sync between devices as I've noticed I'll need to repeat this activity on my iPad too. I would rather this wasn't the case but understand the reason behind it.

I was wondering if anyone has upgraded to a new device, the iPhone 7 for example, and is able to tell me if the faces assigned on your previous iPhone remained.

My concern is I'm taking the time to do this however plan to upgrade to the 7 Plus over the next couple of weeks. If I'm going to have to start from the beginning again I'm just going to forget the whole faces thing.

The fact that they're not syncing yet is considered temporary. Apple (Craig Federighi) has publicly stated that they plan to enable this in the future and the release notes of every beta keep mentioning as a work,in progress feature. So I definitely would not spend time tagging on two devices - if you wait a few months, they will probably sync. I'm hoping for iOS 10.2 to tackle this one, should be around Jan / Feb.

What most people in other threads seem to be doing is tagging on just one device for now. People who previously tagged on a Mac tend to stick with that because the previously tagged faces do carry over.

I'm not messing with faces till it syncs across devices and photos. Then I'll do it because then it will stick and be uniform.
