Hi, purchased my MacBook Air about a year ago (i5 512gb) and never really had to use the webcam before but used it last night and the quality is shocking, especially in low light, is there any way to improve or fix this?

Sadly, no. Clipping an external webcam to it is the only way to get better resolution. If it helps, the webcam on my Dell XPS 9510 is even worse than yours. Poor webcam quality is an issue for many laptops.

Ive been silently screaming about poor quality webcams in laptops for years and never has anyone improved them until the pandemic. I swear its when half the world turned their webcams on for the first time and discovered the same thing. /s
