iPhone FaceTime Group Chat: Video or Audio?

Can group FaceTime chats be audio-only or are they just video-only? I’ve tried audio FaceTime chats and can’t seem to get more than one other person on the same line — I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if group chat is set up for video-only.
