Would be useful to understand when you say Facetime is asking for it - is it when you try and make a call or just randomly when you're in the middle of doing something else.
The general advice is to sign out of your apple id in settings and then trying signing back in as that can resync things and sometimes fix errant behaviour

You could also switch FaceTime off and back on in the settings app to see if that helps.

I use face time about once a week sometimes less when I do I have to re-enter my password, my children have told me they cannot get through, the reason I have found is that my Face time account P/W is missing and I have to re-enter it.

In a van down by the river
When did this problem start happening?
Do you have other Apple Devices?
Do you use the same Apple ID on all devices and App Store purchases?
Have you recently changed your Apple ID password?

FaceTime asks for P/W on a regular basis, why does it keep doing it? IOS 13.5.1
Advice please
As I'm a slightly neurotic/paranoid techie:

Have you made sure that you're in total control of your AppleID?

Like go to the AppleID website to see where you're currently logged in.
