I ordered the 2016 MacBook Pro 15" from BHPhotoVideo last week, and really excited when I got it this afternoon and finally get started on work. After I un-boxed the MacBook, Apple really broke my heart; I can't believe that the freshly new MacBook will have a dent/ chip on the bottom (Please see the attached pictures below), and there were many questions popped up in my mind; Isn't this MacBook brand new? Has it gone through the QC department?

The purpose I'm opening this thread is just to check if any of you had this issue before? Besides that, I want to hear for opinion from you guys if I should exchange another unit or keep it. Since I got it BHPhotoVideo, is that means I need to send it back for exchange, or I can get an exchange unit in local Apple store.

Thank you in advanced for any reply about this issue.

I see it now when you pointed that. But really, dont go in store and ask about that because it sound ridiculous. But if you are one with obsessive compulsive disorder then return it and take other without "dent".

Extremely common, I think I have seen it on every single 15" space grey MacBook Pro I have looked at, both 2016 and 2017.

Other very common finish imperfections: scuff below speaker grille on the right, mis-matched space grey colour (especially between the top case and the screen), and scuffs around the Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Not acceptable in my opinion and one of many reasons why I've given up on this era of MacBook Pros. Highest prices and worst quality.

B&H has no open box return and restocking fee policies. However, it's been my experience that they have issued RMAs without invoking these policies for faulty merchandise including cosmetic damage one time.

Call B&H to see if see if they will exchange your MBP without any financial penalty. If they agree draw an arrow on a piece of tape to make the damage easy for the person inspecting it upon return to locate the problem.

B&H Photo is an extremely reputable company. My wife is a professional photographer and I have purchased almost all of my Macs from them. They have always taken care of us.

To the OP, reach out to B&H... they will make it right.

Thanks for your advice. By the way, I had sent BHPhotoVideo an email.

Seriously? I never thought it is extremely common cosmetic damage on the MacBook Pros. I have owned many Macs, and never had this kind of finish imperfection before.
