Factory or clean OSX install on New iMac

Just wanted to find out if any one will do a clean install of SL on their new imac? I hear there is a lot of bloatware ie Printer Drivers, Asian Language Fonts etc that take up a lot of unnecessary HD space.

I'm getting an i7 very soon waiting for possible iLife update, but will pull trigger what ever happens before July 7th for educational discount.

I didn't do it initially, but reinstalled an deselected all unnecessary things once I bought my SSD.

I ran a cleaner program that got rid of extra languages and ppc binaries, etc. It freed up ~ 2GB. The printer stuff was handy to have since it found my 2 printers and was ready to go without any installs.

Having a 500GB or larger drive, this isn't really saving you much. iMac's aren't like Dells or HP's that come loaded with crapware where it's good to wipe fresh. Unless you're really keen on spending your time reinstalling an OS to get back exactly where you were when you unboxed it, I'd say leave it alone.

Yes, I'd also say leave it alone as long as you have a drive that is 300GB+. I need every gigabyte that I can find though. I've run a couple of cleaners as well, they're very useful for getting some extra space!

I wouldn't bother messing with the default installation unless you have problems or a very small drive (SSD).

Instead of going thru that headache why not run Monolingual?

I always do a fresh install and remove unnecessary items on a new machine.

I'd wait until OS/X 10.7 arrives and then do a clean install.

One nice possibility with a clean installation is to format the disk with a case sensitive file system. There might be some way of imbuing case sensitivity without a re-format but I haven't found it yet.

With today's terabyte drives, there's really not much savings in yanking factory installed packages and languages that aren't used.
