So i'm going to return my Intel Macbook Air and keep the M1. I followed this Youtube video on how to reset it and i signed out of everything fine but i think i might have made a mistake in disk utility. I saw Macintosh HD & Macintosh HD - Data. I deleted only Macintosh HD and left data then went on to re-install the OS. Now did i screw up by leaving Macintosh HD - Data and not deleting it ?

Thanks.

Well, the HD - Data is where your own stuff resides, so if you wanted to delete reliably your data (and not the system), you should have deleted HD - Data and not HD. I suspect you could simply delete your own user account and all private stuff should be gone, but if you want to make sure nothing is recoverable, delete the HD - Data.

Thought so. Thanks a lot.

Ok so after it re-installed the the first time i was on the initial start up screen like when you turn it on when it's brand new. I then went into disk utility to erase the HD Data and i noticed there was 2 HD Data rows. So i erased APFS on both. Then when i went to re-install the OS it gave me 3 options to install it on, HD, HD Data, HD Data. I chose HD. Was this wrong ? Why is there two HD Data's ? I appreciate the help.

Thats normal, It makes a new data when a new account is made. I bought my Air open box from Best Buy and it had 2 datas after I set it up. I just deleted the one that wasn't mine and it worked fine.
