I am new to Image editing, graphic design kind of stuff. I use only iPhoto and gimshop (though if needed I can try to use other apps [free please :)]) I need to make a Don't Drink and Drive ad for school in photo shop (Stupid international school assumes that everybody has photo shop!) I want to take many images and make the edges fade out because they will be blend in with a glass of beer...How do you do this? In the attached image you see the images I want to be in the beer glass, ,and the glass.... Can anybody please help... Like I said, I am using gimpshop!

Your images are missing, so it's not quite clear what you're trying to accomplish, but here are a couple of simple ways to get fadey edges on things.

You might try the eraser tool on the layer with a big fuzzy brush and the opacity turned down, and paint the faded edges by hand using that. This kind of thing can get annoying fast, but you get lots of fine control over the edge that way.

Or, you might use any selection tool (marquee, lasso, whatever) to pick the edge you want faded on the layer, then "blur" the edge (Select->Feather…). Finally, Edit->Cut to see how it looks.

Or, neither of these may be what you want if I haven't quite understood what you want to do  :p

I want the edges to fade out into transparency. Does that make sense?
Okay, then the things I described will probably get you started. For GIMPish programs, if your original image is "flat" (JPEG, etc.) you will first need to add an alpha channel in the layers menu if you want to use transparency on the bottom layer. Additional layers get this automatically.
